Why Landscape an NJ Inground Swimming Pool? Plus Bonus Tips and Ideas

So, your pool’s laid out, and it’s already filled up with water. You might think that the next logical step would be to call all your closest friends and family for your first ever pool party, but there’s something that you might have overlooked – the landscaping!

Recreational NJ inground swimming pools would never be complete until the area around it is landscaped. Why, you ask? Mat Jobe answers with this excerpt from his article on the online swimming pool resource PoolPricer.com:

“Landscaping isn’t an option for your pool – it’s a necessity. At the very least, you will need paving around your pool – whether concrete, flagstone, brick, or tile. It not only makes your pool look nicer, but helps keep your pool clean. If you have dirt leading up to the edge of your pool, more dust and debris will naturally make its way inside.”

Landscaping a pool’s surrounding area isn’t easy, but can be really rewarding if done right. When working with a contractor, you both need to consider these important tips and tricks for a job well done.

Use a variety of plants. Plants can transform an aesthetically bland pool into a tropical paradise. The assortment of greens soften the harsh lines of swimming pool equipment, and help pools blend more naturally with the environment. Growing them tall enough also provides a “privacy screen” around the area.

However, you need to be careful in choosing which plants to use. Avoid messy and fruity plants as they shed too much leaves, needles, bark, and seeds; sweet fruits attract flies and/or bees; flowery types (they need pollination, so they’ll obviously attract bees); and the most troublesome of all, water-seeking or “thirsty” plants. For one, thirsty plants and trees often have massive root systems that can find its way through your pool’s shell and destroy it over time.

Put up fences. Fences serve as a safety net, especially if there are children around. Choosing the right design can also improve your privacy. In the event that you don’t like how a fence looks, you can always ask your contractor to drape vines or put plants over it to soften the sharp edges while adding privacy to boot.

Build a patio and/or gazebo. Also known as a pool deck, a patio serves dual-duty by acting as a slip-resistant foothold and providing additional aesthetic appeal. Gazebos provide maximum convenience too, allowing people to lounge beside the pool and relax in the shade.

Beautify your high-quality NJ inground swimming pool by working with reputable contractors like Tranquility Pools, Inc. As experts, they take in your inputs and make them real – creating a haven of fun and relaxation for you and your family.
